I did the USA A&R coordination for Nigo’s BAPE SOUNDS project back in 2000. This project was great fun for me, linking some of my favorite NYC MC’s GZA, BIZ MARKIE, and The God RAKIM with what was just starting to blow up in JAPAN. Its crazy to see how far NIGO and BAPE have grown, its projects like these that united so many people wordlwide, check the credits; Futura, Nigo, Aaron LaCrate, James Lavelle, Yasushi Takayama, K.U.D.O, Biz Markie, Rakim, Milkcrate and GZA. This was way back before Pharell and Kanye, no disrespect. Nigo has always been the man. A truely dope collabo ! If you listen to the GZA track above, he actually shouts out “RECORD IN A MILKCRATE ATHLETICS MC’S” how amazing is that a NIGO x GZA x MILKCRATE shout out in a song back in 2000. Thats a big co-sign HAAHAH!
