Aaron LaCrate is one of those enigmatic cats who seems to manage to run things on both sides of the tracks. Growing up in East Baltimore, he pushed his passions to the next level from DJing, to skating, to graffiti. Moving to NYC in his late teens, he’s been pushing Baltimore’s musical heritage to a worldwide scale, linking with clothing labels, brands and music industry types to shine a spotlight on a city that has always been a bit under the radar. If it weren’t for Aaron LaCrate, the Baltimore Gutter sound wouldn’t have reached the UK and we probably wouldn’t have heard from Spank Rock or Amanda Blank. In the UK to promote his Bodymore Murdaland photography exhibition, RBMA Radio caught up with Aaron and his new signing Young Verb, to find out more about Baltimore and Milkcrate Records.
